Talking oranges slam Howard IR reforms

Nearly 100 talking oranges from a North Coast orchard have staged a walk-out in protest at the Howard Government’s Industrial Relations reforms.

“We are obviously concerned about the implications this legislation will have for citrus fruit” said one orange who declined to be identified, “We fear that the new laws will encourage the exploitation of oranges and encourage employers to view us as some kind of commodity to be shipped about at will and squeezed for profit.”

A delegation of talking oranges yesterday met with the Industrial Relations Minister to discuss their concerns. However, no resolution was reached and the delegation walked out of the meeting in disgust following an extraordinary gaffe by Ministerial staff who offered orange juice to the party as refreshment.
