Koala files for bankruptcy

A Sydney koala has become the first marsupial to file for bankruptcy following the failure of her small business.

“I regret to advise that Pocketz, the first and only supplier of pouch accessories for marsupials in Australia, has today been forced to permanently close,” a statement from the koala’s solicitor read, “Nutsy the koala has accordingly filed for bankruptcy.”

Pocketz, which at one stage employed 20 Koalas at its Terrey Hills base, was beset with problems from the outset. The company was hit with a crippling workers compensation claim after an employee fell out of a tree and the company was threatened with industrial action after withdrawing its gum leaf allowance.

Nutsy the koala was unavailable for comment today.
